Kontrapunkt is association of citizens established in December 2001 in Skopje, devoted to developing alternative urban cultural policies and strengthening of the culture of connecting, locally, in the region of South East Europe and internationally. Kontrapunkt is committed to creating alternative public spaces and to questioning the models of cultural action based on the principles of diversity and integration. The goals of Kontrapunkt are to de-monopolise the field of culture and cultural policy, to foster the culture of connecting through networking, building joint platforms and partnerships, exchange of creative and theoretical potentials through implementation of joint projects.
Kontrapunkt mainly dedicates itself at present to long-term projects. Since 2008 the Robert Bosch Foundation with a Cultural Manager supports Kontrapunkt with the aim to implement a frequent cultural program. This season’s cultural program is dedicated to Media and the Arts under the name "Expanded Media".
Team
Iskra Geshoska is executive director of the NGO Kontrapunkt. She is working in the field of cultural policy especially concerning the issue of independent cultural scene. She was consultant in the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia in the period of 2002-2006. She is publishing essays and theoretical overviews concerning cultural studies and performing arts. At the moment she is running the three year regional project Deschooling Classroom in partnership.
Vladimir Jankovski (project manager) has graduated from the General and Comparative literature Department at the St. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje. He has working experience as an editor in the publishing house Templum, and for several years he was publishing literature critiques and reviews in the daily newspaper Dnevnik.
Wiebke Stadler (Robert Bosch cultural manager) is graduated in applied Cultural Studies at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg. She has realised different projects in the Field of Film, Art, Theatre and socio-historical f.e. at the International Filmfestival Berlin and with the Museum of Work in Hamburg. Meanwhile she worked at the University in Lüneburg and has organized seminars regarding Critical Whiteness Studies and internet license terms. She is a Co-founder of the cultural space “Das Wohnzimmer” in Lüneburg, Germany.
